The Toastmasters Organisation
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that helps people become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. Since Toastmasters began in 1924, more than four million men and women from all walks of life worldwide have benefited from the organisation’s communication and leadership programmes.There are now over 350,000 members in more than 16,800 clubs across 143 countries.
The organisation is strong in New Zealand, having launched in Dunedin in 1962. Two New Zealanders – John Fauvel and Len Jury ¬– have served as the International President, an office held by only a few Toastmasters outside of the United States.
